The International Pocket Cafes have been family owned and operated since 1990. The Boutros family arrived from Beirut, Lebanon in 1984, and began selling falafal from a pushcart at the Arcade in Providence in 1990. Outgrowing space because of the growing demand for their product, they expanded to URI Kingston with their first storefront location. In addition to their authentic Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine, and with a large and diverse student population at URI, they expanded their menu to include such items as buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, french fries and steak and cheese subs. They opened a second location in Middletown, RI, taking pride in serving the freshest ingredients, healthy portions and tasty menu items – at affordable prices.
